The Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY) seeks an energetic individual to serve as the Manager of Pre-Apprenticeship Programs. Reports to the Executive Director, Manufacturers Talent Institute. The Manager of Pre-Apprenticeship primary focus is on program delivery in MACNY’s service region which drives Participant Recruiting, Employer Recruiting, Instructional Delivery Management Wrap-Around Service Delivery Management, career coaching/job placement, follow-up, and capstone events. Current areas of service include but are not limited to Syracuse, Fulton, Auburn, Utica, Rome, and Cortland County. The Manager coordinates program marketing and communications in coordination with MACNY’s Marketing and Communications team. This position has a strong formal collaboration with MACNY Registered Apprenticeship team, statewide pre-apprenticeship team, and supports the inclusion of Budgeting/Finance team.

The Manager of Pre-Apprenticeship ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of key workforce development concepts, present-day challenges, and emerging solutions (e.g., career pathways, skills gaps, pre-apprenticeship, Registered Apprenticeship, skills-based hiring) who is a detail-oriented leader and thrives in a collaborative environment to excel a turning vision into action. Experience managing a team while cultivating and sustaining community relationships and working knowledge of federal grant programs to successfully administer and meeting operational deliverables. 

Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily program activities to ensure alignment with timelines, standards, and outcomes. 
  • Effectively work the Real Life Rosies® and Advance 2 Apprenticeship® Direct Entry Pre-Apprenticeship programs, ensuring consistent program delivery and assist with troubleshooting challenges and implementing solutions in real time. 
  • Design and deliver in-person and web-based presentations and training. 
  • In coordination with the Director of Pre-Apprenticeship, manage, develop, and design training and technical assistance resources to include outreach materials, resource guides, best practices, etc.
  • Oversee and provide technical assistance to key stakeholders on the project. 
  • Conduct monthly reviews and assessments of projects to ensure alignment with program deliverables. 
  • Manage program deliverables related to the participant recruitment, enrollment, and engagement processes to ensure consistent delivery of career readiness, training, and job placement services. 
  • Maintain monthly program reporting and documentation and ensure compliance with confidentiality and data standards. 
  • Support staff maintaining relationships with employers, educators, and community partners. 
  • Coordinate logistics for partner participation in programming. 
  • Analize data that identify trends making inform decisions, resulting in continuous improvement.

USD $65,000.00/Yr.

Max Compensation

USD $80,000.00/Yr.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3 years working in higher education and/or community/government organizations or comparable experience. 
  • 5 years of managing a group of individuals leading to stronger teamwork and overall performance results.
  • Strong grasp of key workforce development concepts, present-day challenges, and emerging solutions (e.g., career pathways, skills gaps, pre-apprenticeship, Registered Apprenticeship, skills-based hiring).
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Training and/or experience with time management and project management skills.
  • Experience with digital platforms, virtual events, social media, and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system is a plus.
  • Background and management of NYS and Federal awards is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead and build strong working relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail to comprehend, interpret, and deliver applicable guidelines, regulations, ordinances, and policies to the programs for the business.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for frequent community outreach and engagements within New York State.
  • Travel up to 25%.
