JPW Structural Contracting located in Syracuse, NY is currently seeking to add a CNC Plasma Operator to join their team! 

 

Salary Range: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour DOE

 

Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) Machine operators play a key role in the success of the Company. They must follow company policies and work in harmony with co-workers and management to ensure the Company’s success. They perform the day-to-day activities required of them in the shop with the goal of meeting the production schedule set forth by the Shop Foreman, all while maintaining a safe working environment and staying within quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Weld and fabricate structural steel
  • Follow blueprints to meet product specifications
  • Calculate material measurements to verify specifications
  • Receives instructions, prints, and work orders for the job. Plans details of working procedure, tools and material requirements.
  • Fabricates by cutting, burning, and welding various metals.
  • Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded. Sets up, assembles, and tacks weld parts.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly

Qualifications

Skill Requirements

  • Understanding and familiarization with the AISC and AWS specifications.
  • Ability to pass our in-house pre-employment math quiz.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and effectively use a tape measure.
  • Honesty, integrity and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • Computer knowledge and skills as they relate to the operation of CNC Machines
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • OSHA 10

Physical Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random testing during course of employment.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing 50 pounds
  • Possess the coordination, physical strength, and agility to complete required tasks within the allotted time frame.
  • Able to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with body, arms and/or legs without restriction.
  • Able to hear orders clearly and withstand sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable, but within the OSHA standard for permissible exposure limits (PEL).
  • Acceptable visual acuity, either corrected or uncorrected.
  • Crawling, crouching, working in confined spaces

Safety

  • Works in a manner by which they and those around them are kept safe from injury.
  • Always wears the proper PPE including, but not limited to, safety glasses, shields, and gloves.
  • Always use the proper safety guards and mechanisms in place for all equipment used.
  • Must report any injury to the shop foreman as soon as possible.
  • Encouraged to share any and all safety concerns to shop foreman and or Human Resources.

  • Miscellaneous Steel Design and Fabrication, Load testing (ie. Stairs, Ladders, Lifting fixtures, Spreader beams, Pusher Snow plows, buckets, blade fixtures)
  • Plate Weldment Fabrications/ in house bending & rolling capabilities
  • Press breaks up to 12’ long with 250 ton capacities
