Responsibilities

To help us meet our mission LOTTE BIOLOGICS is in need of a Senior Metrology Technician who will perform a variety of installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair duties on complex laboratory, process, and utility instrumentation.  This role works closely with the Maintenance, Operations and Automation groups, in a primarily paperless work environment, following SOPs in a cGMP facility.  This role may work on assignments that are extremely complex in nature where independent action and a high degree if initiative are required in resolving problems and developing recommendation to management.  The successful candidate will act independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments with appropriate approval from management.

  • Initial Phase: The Senior Metrology Technician will be focused in our Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for supporting and driving the start-up, qualification, CAL/PM Program and SOP’s for ADC's and other bioconjugate molecules.  This individual will work in a team-driven environment on customer projects to enable transfer to GMP manufacturing. During facility build and start-up phases this role will influence process and organizational design. During the initial phase the shift schedule will be M-F 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
  • Final Phase: As the facility transitions to the release phase, this role will be responsible for operational readiness including facility and equipment qualification support and accountable for the execution of CAL / PM program aligning will all regulatory requirements. This individual will be responsible for establishing a team culture of continuous improvement and the unrelenting pursuit of excellence. Post implementation the shift schedule will transition to 24x7 maintenance coverage model (12-hour day shift on rotational schedule (48 hours one week, followed by 36 hours the next)).

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, customer request, and corrective instrumentation work orders in support of the lotte biologics manufacturing facility, and ADC facility.
  • Perform instrumentation work on liquid level, temperature, pressure, liquid flow, gas flow, speed, control valves, I/P transducers, solenoids, PLC’s, distributed I/O systems, and other manufacturing and utility system instrumentation.
  • Support commercial manufacturing through participation on 24x7 maintenance coverage model (12-hour Day shift on rotational schedule (48 hours one week followed by 36 hours the next)). Focus will be on supporting implementation of new ADC facility, commissioning of new equipment, Cal /PM program and SOP’s.
  • Maintain assigned area of ownership within the facilities to support inspection readiness and general facilities upkeep for support of commercial manufacturing.
  • Operate through electronic maintenance work order management system, with all documentation of work performed captured electronically.
  • Operate within regulatory governed facilities in regards to documentation management, training compliance, deviation management, procedure adherence, and corrective/preventative action implementation.
  • Cross-train to support integrated mechanical maintenance, critical utilities, and instrumentation team.
  • Assists in qualification activities related to instrumentation.
  • Provides technical support as Metrology SME for engineering projects towards improvement of processing equipment, utilities, and facilities instrumentation.
  • Provides qualified instruction (Train the Trainer Program) to perform departmental technical training.
  • Operate as back-up to Facilities and Engineering Shift Supervisor on daily coordination as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • Knowledge of science generally attained through studies resulting in an Associate’s Degree in electronics technology or equivalent training.
  • A minimum of eight years of experience applying the knowledge, principles, and practices relevant to calibration and instrumentation.

Knowledges, Skills & Abilities:

  • Prior evidence of successful participation on work teams where combined contribution, collaboration, and results were expected.
  • Demonstrated ability with common computer tools such as word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based applications.
  • Work experience where attention to detail and personal accountability were critical to success.
  • Demonstrates good interpersonal skills, customer focus, and professionalism.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Demonstrates strong safety mindset with emphasis on pre-task planning, safety procedure and permit adherence, and personal accountability for safety.
  • Computer literate in Maximo or similar computer-based maintenance program.
  • Knowledge of both calibration and maintenance of instrumentation on biotech manufacturing equipment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in common computer tools such as word processing, spreadsheet, and web-based applications.
  • Knowledge of ISA standards and the principles/practices relevant to calibration and instrumentation.
  • Thorough understanding of operating principles of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Knowledgeable in P&IDs control theories and techniques and have ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Knowledge of basic relay ladder logic, programmable logic controllers, and distributed control systems.
  • Knowledge of Device Net and Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation, DeltaV distributed control system, and Rosemount’s A.M.S. Software.

Physical Demands:

This position is located at a medium scale manufacturing facility with classified areas requiring appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). This role will require contact with hazardous materials such as caustic, acids, and steam. Frequent bending, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing and reaching is required. materials such as caustic, acids and steam. Role also requires frequent unassisted lifting (not to exceed 50 lbs.). This position is a team based position that may require shift work, weekends, holidays, emergency call-ins and overtime. 

 

Work Environment:

This position may require the employee to work in areas where chemical, biologic, and environmental risks are present. This position is located at a medium scale manufacturing facility with classified areas requiring appropriate gowning and personal protective equipment (PPE). This role will require contact with hazardous  materials such as caustic, acids and steam.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No formal supervision exercised, but may be required to provide guidance, oversight to work activities and mentor less experienced staff members
