The Tool and Mold Design Engineer will create, develop, and implement efficient manufacturing systems, tools, and molds to reduce costs while maintaining standards of operations.

Oneida Molded Plastics is committed to providing fair compensation for all employees. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: currently held skills and experience levels, currently held education levels, local cost of living, designated shifts, and current and relevant compensation data available. Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with engineers and offsite vendors to design cost-effective manufacturing tools and molds for new product lines.
  • Works with the engineering team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings of the tools and molds.
  • Produces specifications for tools and molds and chooses raw materials and components to be used.
  • Utilizes lessons learned and comparisons with similar designs.
  • Facilitates the repairs of dies, molds, and tools when needed.
  • Reads and understands engineering drawings and complicated schematics as required to create and build new fixtures, tools, and machine parts.
  • Uses computer-aided design (CAD) software to create designs and/or turn designs into engineering drawings.
  • Aides in the inspection of completed tools and molds for signs of imperfection or damage that may affect functionality.
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices in manufacturing methods, tools, molds, and trends and developments in technology and equipment; applies this knowledge to maintain the organization’s competitive edge.
  • Identifies and assesses various problems and departures from established standards and best practices; researches and recommends solutions.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and well-organized workspace.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

USD $60,000.00/Yr.

Max Compensation

USD $110,000.00/Yr.

Qualifications

  • Possession of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of engineering and/or tool maker (journeyman) experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced mold design skills.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable industry standards.
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software-Solidworks preferred.
  • Proficient in machine shop processes (CNC, EDM, grinding, finishing, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
