Responsibilities

To help us meet our mission LOTTE Biologics is in need of a Manager, EH&S - Process Safety who will be accountable for administering and executing the process safety management program as part of implementation of the overall site Environmental, Health, and Safety programs for the site to achieve compliance with applicable local/state/Federal regulations and result in a safe workplace, including the reviews of capital renovations and new construction projects. This position will work in consortium with other Managers to implement the corporate Environmental Health and Safety program. This position must comply with all Security guidelines, Environmental Health and Safety regulations and the current Good Manufacturing Practices required by the job function.

 

  • Serve as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for process safety management (PSM).
  • Serve as site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for electrical hazard safety.
  • Provides technical and regulatory guidance on environment, industrial hygiene, and safety issues, focusing on the recognition, evaluation, and control of physical and chemical hazards. Advise management on the proper procedures, work practices, equipment to use in order to ensure compliance with all legal requirement and regulations in these fields.
  • Implements EHS self-assessment programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable local, state & Federal regulations and company directives.
  • Reviews capital renovations and new construction projects to ensure process and electrical safety issues are addressed.
  • Serve as the Lotte Biologics USA liaison person with regulatory agencies during site audits and inspections and as Site contact for EHS community outreach activities and the Community Awareness & Emergency Response Program.
  • As site Process Safety Management SME, perform the following duties:
  • Delivers Process Safety design execution, and audit for manufacturing process areas throughout the site.
  • Assess and provide solutions to potential energy risk hazards throughout all work areas
  • Lead process hazard reviews of new and existing equipment to ensure environmental, health and safety issues are addressed as part of Change Management.
  • Manages the site EHS Management of Change Program.
  • Maintain statistical data, develops reports, and files official reports with regulatory agencies.
  • Represents the site on EHS issues through participation in Professionals Industry Association.
  • Participates in process hazard reviews of new and existing equipment to ensure environmental, electrical, and other safety issues are addressed as part of Change Management.
  • Provides guidance for the proper selection of personal protective equipment.
  • Leads the departmental behavior-based safety audit program and reporting deliverables.
  • Leads safety programs such as Process Safety Management and Energy Controls.
  • Participates in the execution of the contractor qualification program to assure contractors meet minimum EHS requirements prior to offer services to Lotte Biologics USA.
  • Administers the incident investigations program to determine root cause and develop action plan to avoid recurrence and follows-up to ensure improvements are made.
  • Leads when required and actively participates in various EHS Committees.
  • Keeps abreast of current technologies and regulatory trends.
  • Aids in administration of the departmental budget to assure controlled expenses within established goal and; supports department director in administrative areas such as budget, capital appropriation, change control and company representation.
  • Ability to respond, as necessary, to EHS related incidents onsite, in support of 24/7 operation manufacturing site.
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Environmental Health and Safety, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field)
  • 3 -5+ years of experience leading EHS program management and implementation, including but not limited to, Process Safety in the biologics and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Industry Professional Certification Preferred (PSM, and/or CHST, CSP, ASP)

 

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, etc:

  •  Fully cognizant of applicable Local, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work under pressure of time and capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer knowledge
  • Ability to communicate in Korean highly beneficial, but not required.

 

Physical Demands: 

  • Potential exposure to all hazardous conditions is anticipated since considerable amount of time is spent in site operations.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs as needed.

Occasional travel may be required to offsite meetings, training, conferences, seminars, etc.
