LOTTE Biologics, located in Syracuse, NY, is currently searching for a Network Engineer to join our Digital Plant (DP) team.  Lotte Biologics is a biological Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) located in Syracuse, NY.    The Network Engineer duties will include using their IT Infrastructure knowledge to work with the Network Business partner to develop, coordinate deployment and to manage company’s networks, coordinating with site stakeholders to identify network needs and aid employees and other individuals on how to use the network effectively.  The Network Engineer would be responsible for designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring of site network(s) that supports business and manufacturing networks, video, data, and voice systems to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.  The Network Engineer will act as the relationship manager for the network Managed Service Provider.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and support of routers, firewalls, circuits, and switches (servers, load balancers, storage arrays, network attached storage, and related peripherals will be managed by infrastructure engineering)
  • Provide design and support for Business and Manufacturing network systems
  • Manage vendor and/or product provisioning, procurement, and delivery of data services hardware and software
  • Manage vendor and/or product provisioning, procurement, and delivery of LAN and WAN hardware
  • Act as a resource for infrastructure projects for voice/data network design, development, and implementation
  • Work with wiring contractors to oversee accurate installation of new wiring and cabling
  • Establish documentation standards, processes, and policies to ensure network performance, compliance to standards and maintainability of enterprise systems
  • Maximizes performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages and scheduling upgrades
  • Collaborate with network architects on network optimization
  • Secures network system by establishing and enforcing policies and defining and monitoring access
  • Meet with department leaders and project requestors to assess project requirements and design systems to meet requirements
  • Provide leadership, direction, and management of internal and/or external resources working on assigned projects
  • Work independently on assignments where considerable judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making choices, recommendations, or decisions
  • Provide Level 3 support to users and provide off-hours support on a rotating basis as needed
  • Provides ownership and accountability for Asset Life Cycle Management within ServiceNow
  • Act as an intermediary between vendors and different teams in their organizations to help in the purchase of software, hardware, and other related equipment for computer environments
  • Analyze network traffic to understand application flows, impact to Network and vice versa, identify issues related to application performance and provide recommendations for optimal use of the network and to mitigating risk
  • Work to 100% change success with zero unplanned downtime resulting from planned changes
  • Manage the configurations and maintenance SDCOE VOIP telephone systems
  • Manage network bandwidth analysis tools

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience within the designated environment (IP & Cisco)
  • Minimum BS degree in Computer Science and/or equivalent certifications and experience
  • AWS Solutions Architect Certification or similar preferred
  • CCNA, IAT, CCNP, ITIL, CISCO, CICA, RHCE, MCP, CCIE, CE licenses/certificate a plus
  • Professional training or experience using software programming languages such as C++, JAVA, Python, and Perl a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills, firm understanding of how to properly troubleshoot problems with as minimal client impact as possible
  • Ability to provide QoS implementations and strategies
  • Excellent project management, verbal communication, documentation, and technical writing skills
  • Open/Update/Assign/Resolve incidents in Service Now and monitor ticket queue
  • Builds an understanding of the business and impact of missed SLA’s and how it impacts our customers
  • Demonstrated success of leading effectively in a complex matrix project team environment
  • Team player with an emphasis on both knowledge sharing and learning
  • Knowledge of Networking, Network Switches, Network Firewalls, IIS (Internet Information Services), Wireless Networks, and Gateways
  • Experience and/or substantial understanding of industrial IT Datacenter, Physical and Virtualized Servers, Virtualization Clustering, and SANs
  • Skilled in Active Directory, Time synchronization with NTP, Network Domain, Domain Controllers, Networks, and Databases
  • Familiar with cyber security best practices and industry-standard tools
  • Experience with VPN, Routers, and Routing Protocols. Understanding of IP tunneling protocols including IPSec and GRE a plus
  • Perform in depth systems analysis on a multitude of technology devices, operating systems and software
  • Exceptional understanding of advanced networking, including on-premise enterprise-grade infrastructure, as well as cloud-based network 'appliances' and interfaces
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco appliances, ability to work within the CLI, are a strong plus
  • Experience and understanding of the Linux operation system a major plus
  • Wireless networking configuration and management
  • Knowledgeable about BICSI and IEEE standards a plus

Physical Demands:

Work within all Site Facilities, which requires one to give a high attention to detail and on occasion to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). 

 

Work Environment: 

This position is based indoors and the employee will primarily be working with others, but also independently. This position requires employee presence, on site 50-100%. This position is a team & project-based position that will require occasional shift work, weekends, and holidays.
