LOTTE BIOLOGICS located in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Paralegal to join our team who entered the biologics Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) business after acquiring Bristol Myers Squibb’s Syracuse biologics drug substance manufacturing site, on January 1, 2023!

Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated paralegal to coordinate legal programs for the site. The paralegal will report to the Director, EOHSS (Environmental Health Safety & Security).

 

  • Primary point of contact and interface with external Council. Identify and manage outsourced counsel to address site needs, eg: Employment Law, Environment, Safety, Contracts, Taxation and General Counsel.
  • Coordinate issuance of and manage spending on Purchase Orders for outsourced counsel.
  • Conduct initial and final review of legal documents in collaboration outsourced counsel.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, checking, and organizing legal documents prepared by outsourced such as contracts and intercompany agreements. This includes Master Service and Statements of Work, with assistance from other departments.
  • Designing and managing document libraries, creating flows, and managing permissions on sites.
  • Monitor applicable regulations which could impact site operations. Communicate to site leadership in a timely fashion to allow appropriate response.
  • Organize and archive documents related to completed and ongoing matters, including creation of a legal document database in partnership with IT.
  • Project management of outsourced counsel, including maintaining to-do lists, coordinating meetings, updating step plans, assisting in transaction closing process (closing checklists, sending documents out, organizing closing sets for reorganizations and other transactions).
  • Continually bringing new approaches to improving effectiveness of workflow and processes.
  • Assist with SOX compliance matters and review of statutory accounts.
  • Manage outside research resources, as needed.
  • Willing and able to learn new skills and systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. In the absence of a degree, directly related job experience with at least 10 years of proven knowledge may offset the degree requirement
  • 5-10+ years of paralegal experience, either with a law firm or the legal department of a large, multinational corporation
  • Merger and acquisition and business development transactions experience a plus

What Qualities Are We Looking For?

  • Advance knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office, Adobe, and other web-based applications. SAP experience is a plus
  • Ability to use business judgment when assessing requirements and performance, identifying the right solution to meet business needs
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities, attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage multiple competing tasks and priorities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or part of a cross-functional team. Must have strong interpersonal skills and capability to anticipate problems and come up with reasonable solutions in a diplomatic manner.
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, reasoning, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to or greater than 15 pounds at times.
