LOTTE BIOLOGICS located in East Syracuse, NY is seeking a Technical Services Lead to join our team who entered the biologics Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) business after acquiring Bristol Myers Squibb’s Syracuse biologics drug substance manufacturing site, on January 1, 2023! 

 

Responsibilities

The Technical Services Lead provides expertise in technical engineering and compliance across multiple engineering disciplines in the field of industrial and pharmaceutical manufacturing. This position will be responsible for assuring technical compliance with standards and guidelines for all engineering and project delivery processes. This position assumes accountability and responsibility for developing and maintaining site engineering design standards, guidelines, and specifications.  This position will also provide technical support to the site engineering team, lead consultants, and contractors through a peer review process and estimating to ensure compliance with industry and organizations cGMP practices and constructability.  

  • Support Project management team through project realization which includes RFP development, procurement support, project controls, scheduling reviews and closeout activities.
  • Work to ensure customer satisfaction and strive to add value for the customer.
  • Development, implementation and maintain project delivery standards, engineering guidelines and site specifications.
  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure good engineering and good manufacturing practices are incorporated in project execution.
  • Lead project teams through a peer review process to ensure quality of engineering deliverables, constructability, and cost estimating.
  • Provide technical engineering support in HVAC, clean utilities such as water systems and clean steam, upstream and downstream manufacturing processes, laboratory and building infrastructure such as plant steam, chilled water and electrical.
  • Prioritize safety, compliance, and quality when executing job functions. 
  • Think in a clear, decisive manner, remain calm under adverse conditions, and reach independent, sound solutions during normal and emergency situations.
  • Anticipate problems and work with project team to address them promptly and proactively.

Qualifications

  • Experience in engineering environments within a regulated industry and a proven track record of delivering significant projects in an industrial or pharmaceutical manufacturing settings.
  • Focus on safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence in addition to complying with good engineering practices, company policies, regulations, and codes.
  • Ability to provide technical advice and input in all areas of architectural, engineering and construction.
  • Ability to scope projects based upon client’s requirements, develop budget estimates, and project schedules.
  • Understanding of facilities and building maintenance activities and functions including utility infrastructure.
  • Understanding of regulatory, environmental, GMP/GLP and OSHA regulations.
  • Knowledge of laboratory, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, utility plant design, construction, maintenance & operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience in the negotiations and structures of contracts and major agreements.
  • Demonstrates project management experience that includes design and construction of process equipment, laboratories, and facilities.
  • Knowledge of biologics is highly desirable.
  • Ability to collaborate in a diverse team environment.

Education/Experience/ Licenses/Certifications:

  • Engineering or a related degree with at least 8-10 years of engineering and project management experience.
  • Advanced degree and/or professional engineering license desirable.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical demands of the job include unassisted lifting of items, not to exceed 50 lbs; crouching/squatting; kneeling; sitting; crawling; walking on level surfaces; climbing stairs and ladders; and vision (visual inspection of installations). The job will also require the use of PPE, such as hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, steeled toed shoes, fall protection, and electrical safety gear.

Travel:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This role needs to provide leadership in a matrix environment to lead and develop a high performing team of project managers in the successful execution of a portfolio of capital projects to meet the short and long term capital strategy for the site.
