Maintenance Technicians Wanted! Empire Polymer Solutions is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our team at a new plastic manufacturing facility in Baldwinsville, NY.  We are moving forward quickly and need top talent to build our team. The right Maintenance Technician will play a valuable role at this exciting time as we build for the future in our new location.

  • The Maintenance Technician will assist in:
    • Installation, maintenance, and improvement of our plastic processing equipment (diagnostics, machine repair, electric)
    • Maintenance of the 200,000 square foot facility including: exterior grounds, roof, walls, doors, floors, drains, dock doors, etc.
  • Qualified candidates must be highly observant, willing to learn, a motivated team player, safety focused, and eager to gain and share new knowledge with their colleagues.
  • This position must be able to demonstrate an understanding of safety, quality, and efficiency as it pertains to the maintenance function.
  • The Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and will be a key member of the maintenance team

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the working order of production equipment
  • Learn and understand complex process equipment (i.e. grinding, pumps, blowers, washing, drying, processing machines, motors, controls, conveyors, compressors, etc.)
  • Understand PM schedules and execute preventive/predictive maintenance tasks under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist in daily support of mechanical operations including adjustments, setups, and blade changes.
  • Use machine tools as needed.
  • Adequately communicate maintenance issues and concerns to appropriate individuals (i.e. Maintenance Manager). 
  • Maintain an organized and functional work area, including a spare parts/equipment storage space.
  • Follow all policies and safety requirements directed by company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management team members.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years Industrial production experience in a manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Mechanical knowledge.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to follow, retain, and communicate detailed instructions.
  • Ability to follow standard policies and procedures.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work in a production-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage time, organize, and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to keep production equipment operating, including on-call/overtime as needed.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements, OCWA Water/Sewer, and industrial GMP’s preferred.
  • Water treatment experience preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Able to work on ladders and lifts at a height above 15ft.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to frequently twist, kneel, squat, bend. and reach overhead.
